Based on Human Resource firm Mercer Consulting’s latest ranking, Tokyo is dubbed as 2012’s most expensive city in the world for expatriates. The cost of living in Tokyo, Japan has dramatically increased according to the annual cost of living Survey by Mercer.
From rank second or third the past five years, Tokyo has reached the second spot last year and top it to number 1 this year. Renting cost for houses may be the same, but the other commodities and necessities has escalated like coffee, food, entertainment, transport, clothing and household goods. Yet despite the change, this country is expatriates desired city to reside in.
Tokyo is Japan’s 47th prefecture and the center of Greater Tokyo, its metropolitan area as the world’s largest.
